CASA Creates is our residency programme, where four artists annually receive funding, mentorship, technical support, and space to freely explore their practice without the pressures of perfection or self-fundraising. This initiative prioritises artistic process over product, allowing residents to take risks and develop new ideas in a supportive environment.

Residency outcomes are showcased at CASA Festival and LAB events, alongside “New Ideas Scratch Nights,” where artists collaborate over a weekend and present their work-in-progress to audiences for feedback. CASA Creates nurtures bold, boundary-pushing ideas while fostering a culture of dialogue and innovation, disrupting inequitable structures by prioritising freedom, creativity, and collaboration.

In non-festival years, CASA Lab provides a fertile ground for experimentation and artistic growth. We champion work at various stages of development, giving artists the freedom to explore bold ideas and involve audiences in the creative process. This participatory approach fosters mutual learning, bridging the gap between creation and reception.

CASA Lab also extends its impact through workshops and community-focused programming, engaging children, older adults, and other groups. From academic discussions to emotional and physical exploration, we ensure our activities cater to the broad spectrum of our community’s needs. CASA Lab is a space where experimentation thrives, audiences learn, and artists grow.
