FROM CASA: COMMISSIONS
We are incredibly excited to announce our new initiative - From CASA Commission. A new online opportunity, giving up to 4 Latinx artists the chance to develop a new idea, to collaborate with a leading creative practitioner and work with CASA’s Artistic Director and Executive Producer.
We, like so many in our industry, are so sad that we cannot do our festival and residency this year and we have been desperate to find a way to connect and to create. We have developed this initiative to stimulate artists and ourselves, we think by creating with new people, in new ways and with fresh new ideas, this commission will offer all involved both a bit of relief and creative stimulation.
We are a multi-arts organisation and we would love to receive applications of all kinds, such as dance, performance and live art, theatre, documentary theatre, multi-media projects, immersive, site-specific and moving image.
What to expect:
⁃ £1000 fee to develop a scratch/work in progress of a new piece of work.
⁃ The chance to work with a leading creative practitioner to help develop the piece and your creative practice.
⁃ Tailored feedback, mentorship and masterclasses with the CASA team.
What we expect:
⁃ Innovative new ideas.
⁃ An openness to collaboration, feedback, learning and development.
⁃ Willingness to share via our online platforms elements of the process.
⁃ Each piece of work created should, by the end of September, be at a stage where we can share something, in whatever form suits the work with industry and audiences.
⁃ If the work is text-based then the work can be in English, Spanish or Portuguese however must be made accessible to an English speaking audience.
We hope the result of this residency inspires you and us and we will be able to produce, fund and develop some of the pieces further and showcase them at our next festival.
Who is eligible:
⁃ Any person who identifies as Latinx.
⁃ Artists who work in any form of performance, multi-media and moving image at ANY stage of their career.
