This exhibition seeks to question the meaning of nationality and displacement, wondering what it means for a body to belong to a land that has been dominated and violated by western power. This year we welcome seven different creative projects reflecting on the subject.
How can we express the richness and diversity of mixed culture in today's America Latina? Maybe the answer is to ask the question itself?
Curated by Cecilia Kuska & Cordelia Grierson.
432 is an intuitive study of a place. The landscape and its elements influence the performers and the camera. The camera and human presence determines our perceptions of the landscape. Dance, land art and cinematography combine themselves to transmit a sensory experience and a poetic study about the relationship between humans and nature, set in the Dunes of Longotoma, Chile.
Amelia Ibañez (Santiago, Chile, 1981) works with choreography, performance and visual arts. Her research looks to maximize the dialogue between dance and other disciplines.
Marcos Sánchez (Santiago, Chile, 1980) is a visual artist and filmmaker working primarily in drawing, animation and mixed media video. He is a visual arts major from PUC University, Chile and holds an MFA in Film from NYU, USA.
Direction: Amelia Ibáñez and Marcos Sánchez Cinematography: Marcos Sánchez Sound Design: Juan Pablo Aguirre Wardrobe: Francisco Calbacho y Bárbara Müller Production: Francisco Calbacho Performers: Matilde Amigo, Jesús Briceño, Alexandra Miller, Carlos Palacios, Simón Pascal.
